About Charmaine Simmons

Hi, I’m Charmaine—therapist, coach, and advocate for rest.

I know what it’s like to feel the weight of being “the strong one,” the friend, the professional, the caretaker, the leader. The one everyone else relies on.

For years, I carried that weight myself, and I’ve walked alongside countless clients who do the same. My work is dedicated to helping you set it down. I create safe, affirming spaces for women, high-achievers, and people-pleasers to practice vulnerability, set boundaries, and discover new ways of living that center rest, joy, and self-compassion.

My Professional Journey

With over 18 years of experience as a therapist and coach, I’ve supported individuals in outpatient, residential, and private practice settings through individual, family, and group therapy, as well as psychological testing. Over time, I developed a passion for working with high-functioning adults who appear to “have it all together” but quietly struggle with people-pleasing, perfectionism, and feelings of low self-worth.

Often, these patterns are rooted in unresolved childhood trauma or expressed through high-functioning depression, anxiety, or PTSD. My role is to help you unravel those patterns so you can live in alignment with what you truly want, not just what others expect of you.

How I Work

I use a collaborative, integrative approach that blends:

  • Mindfulness (to reconnect you with the present moment)
  • Psychodynamic therapy (to explore root causes and subconscious patterns)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) (to shift unhelpful thought cycles)
  • Somatic practices (to release what the body has been holding)

As Carl Jung wisely said: “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate.”

Together, we’ll bring those hidden patterns into the light so you can choose a different path, which is one rooted in rest, wholeness, and freedom.

Why I Do This Work

My compassion for collective wellness fuels everything I do. I believe when we take time to care for ourselves, we extend that healing into our families, communities, and workplaces. Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s a necessity.

Beyond the Therapy Room

Outside of work, I practice what I teach. You’ll often find me meditating, journaling, moving through a yoga flow, or sweating it out in strength conditioning class. I love curling up with a good Netflix series, traveling, enjoy good food and, most importantly, spending quality time with my loved ones.

Because rest and joy are our birthrights.
